At Questacon, we strive to promote greater understanding and awareness of science and technology within the community. We're committed to making that experience fun, interactive, and relevant.
Workshop activity
At Questacon we consider STEM to be a noun rather than an acronym. It’s a descriptive term that links together common practices that are found within the fields of not just science, technology, engineering and maths but are also increasingly become common in the humanities and arts.
The Protostorming Activity is a way to illustrate these STEM practices and for participants to prepare their minds for creative thinking, looking at their world in a new way and having some fun. Because when it comes down to it, it wouldn’t be a visit to Questacon without having a fun, collaborative learning experience.
Canberra’s education system is slated for a decade-long overhaul after the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) Government unveiled their Future of Education Strategy. Designed in consultation with 5000 Canberrans, the strategy aims to re-focus curriculum towards real-world skills and personalised learning.
The Federal Labor Party has promised to contribute $200 million to the second stage of Canberra’s light rail project if it wins the next election, potentially creating hundreds of jobs through infrastructure and construction projects.
The Australian Government’s National Innovation and Science Agenda will enter its final stage, with over $500 million in funding being allocated towards the promotion of STEM participation and digital literacy. The subject of technological innovation is further explored through the Diversity in Tech theme of the 2019 edition of The Good Careers Guide.
To learn more about the education and careers landscape in the ACT, was well as on a national scale, ensure you attend the Canberra ACS Seminar.
