With a Mechatronics Engineering background from UWA and experience in strategic railway planning, Michael joined the Public Transport Authority (PTA) in 2013.
As part of the PTA’s Radio Systems Replacement project team, Michael is on the vanguard of a mission critical to communication systems. The project will replace the PTA’s current analogue radio system with a cutting-edge system based on Long Term Evolution (LTE) technology. The network will lay the foundation for a transformation in the way PTA runs its rail network. Michael’s role within the team is to lead the rollout of equipment across the PTA fleet, including over 400 railcars, rapid response and track maintenance of vehicles and training over 1000 future users of the system.
As a committee member of the Railway Technical Society of Australasia (WA chapter), Michael is active in the promotion of the railway industry. In 2018 Michael was the recipient of the 2018 RTSA young railway engineer of the year award.
Presentation Overview
Michael’s keynote presentation will focus on recent and upcoming PTA projects that are leveraging cutting edge technology to transform the way PTA is operating, maintaining and expanding its rail network across WA.
